Pursuant to their affiliation Agreement with SatoTravel, Alshamel operates a dedicated Service Center, run by a SatoTravel trained team, specifically designed to handle requests from the US Government and Military offering e-mail, telephone and fax booking facilities.

The dedicated team is fully proficient in the handling of all military and Government travel requirements, and totally conversant with the various procedures applicable to both official and personal travel. SatoTravel provides a full range of travel services to U.S. military, civilian government and corporate clients.

Our services include airline reservations and ticketing, hotel and rental car reservations, meeting planning, globally-consolidated management reporting, travel management and consulting, visa and passport assistance, custom vacations, cruises and tours. Response times are rigorously adhered to and all reservations, fares and tickets issued are subject to strict quality control checks. Available 24 hours a day, the office is manned from 8 AM until 5 PM with an emergency airport office available for urgent out of hours travel requirements.

The SatoTravel/Alshamel affiliation agreement was signed in Washington D.C. in May 2000, with the SatoTravel Service Center opening in Kuwait on June 10th of the same year. Effective the same day SatoTravel commenced servicing the two United States Air Force bases in Kuwait, issuing in excess of 1500 tickets in the first three months of operation for U.S.A.F. personnel returning home after their active duty in the Gulf. Despite starting the contract at a time when the US military presence and requirements were at a peak in the region, the Alshamel / SatoTravel alliance proved to be capable of facing and conquering any challenge.

Following Operation Iraqi Freedom, Alshamel was contracted through SatoTravel in Washington D.C., as sole travel provider to an ongoing R&R program for US troops in Iraq.

On August 21st, 2005, Alshamel was proud to have flown its 250,000th soldier through the R&R program in Kuwait. Once again, the Alshamel expertise and experience turned the almost impossible into a reality.

SATO TRAVEL HISTORY

SatoTravel traces its roots to October 1949, when the Air Traffic Conference of America (ATC) executed the first Joint Military Air Transportation Agreement. The agreement was established at the request of the Department of Defense, which needed a single point of contact with commercial airlines to handle emergency mobilizations and normal air travel needs.

In 1963, the Joint Airlines Military Traffic Offices (JAMTO) was established at various military installations and later were expanded to meet other government travel needs.

In 1970, JAMTO was renamed Scheduled Airlines Traffic Offices, or SATO.SATO was incorporated in Delaware in 1985 and took over the SATO operations from ATC in 1986.

The name SatoTravel was registered as a trademark in 1987.Until 1994, SatoTravel primarily provided official and leisure travel services to U.S. military and civilian government personnel.

We serve as the airline industry's focal point to ensure priority air travel under the War Air Service Program. SatoTravel also participates in the Military Traffic Management Commands' Contingency Response Program and in various mobilization and contingency plans for branches of the service and for some states.

In 1994, the board of directors approved SatoTravel to seek commercial travel contracts with Fortune 500 companies and other organizations with annual airline purchasing budgets in excess of $10 million.In 1999, SatoTravel was acquired by an investment group comprised of Stuart Mill Capital, Ambassadors International Inc. and GE Pension Trust.
