The Individual Billed Account (IBA)

Sometimes referred to as Government Travel Card (GTC)

Forward: The IBA, or GTC, is a government credit card that is issued to an individual for the purpose of purchasing transportation, lodging, meals etc. while performing official travel. The government prohibits the use of a government travel card for leisure purposes. The Department of Defense is making plans, which in the future will mandate all DOD travelers to use a government travel card when performing duty travel. The current terminology is Individual Billed Account (IBA).

Entitlements and the appropriate use of the Government Travel Card.

Premium Class Travel
It is DOD policy that economy class travel accommodations be used for all official travel unless higher class accommodations are properly approved however, if a customer pays with his IBA (Government Travel Card), approval for premium class travel is not necessary as long as the traveler is aware that the following sentence will appear on his invoice:

"Notice: if a business class fare was purchased, you are advised that appropriate approval for this class of service has to be properly approved or you may not be reimbursed for the travel performed."

Statements of non availability
SatoTravel does not provide statements of non-availability. Statements of non-availability must be issued by the SACOR/ITO. SatoTravel can provide recommendations to the SACOR or ITO.
